how do I get rid of this on the top of my proofing galleries????!!!

That is your Marketing Banner that you can add for sales, specials, or any announcement you want. It is turned on in 2 places. (it’s actually the same place), you can turn it on/off in your gallery settings.
 

This is where you enable/disable it and add the text that goes into it. The other place you should check is your gallery template. This way you can have it on/off by default when you create a new gallery.
