2020 broke my heart and reset my “why.”
Photos matter more than ever before. I’ve always known this, but it hit home with extra oomph when I found myself sorting through wedding photos for a picture to print for my father-in-law’s funeral.
Thank goodness for my wedding photographer, Barbara O. Thank goodness for easy downloading. Thank goodness for high-res files and drop-ship printing.
It seems trite until you’re doing it.
So I’m honing in on what matters most. Where can my photos make a difference? How can my creativity make this world a more beautiful place?
I promise: I’m not being morbid when I say that I want my photos to be worthy of a funeral. I want people to look at my work and see their loved ones, see their stories, relive those memories.
So. How did 2020 change me? “Change” doesn’t seem like a strong enough word. I’ve been rebuilt. Renewed.
Reimagined into someone who is more okay with quiet. More content with stillness. More open to tough conversations and atypical solutions. I’m hungrier than ever for real stories, true connection, and lasting memories.
How did 2020 change YOU?
And how can we keep the change going, year after year? I’m ready for it.
