What is content marketing?

According to the Content Marketing Institute, content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action. Focus on content marketing to speak to your ideal client (your dreamie, your ideal client avatar, etc). The main goal is to create content that brings value to your client to keep them engaged with you. Oh, and content marketing is free!

Use Content Marketing to Create a Marketing Engine

Let’s look at how this works in real life. Image you create one piece of content, such as a blog post; here is how it can reach clients in 7 different ways.

  1.  Start with a blog post on your blog. If you’re not sure what to write about, we have an ongoing catalog of blog prompts you can find here.

  2. Send out a teaser of the blog post (think the intro paragraph or a small except) as an email to your list with a link to continue reading.

  3. Summarize your main points or the questions you answer as a bullet-point list and use that as an Instagram caption with a client photo. Give a CTA (call to action) in your caption to click the link in your bio to read more. Be sure to put the link to the post in your bio if you do this!

  4. Using the same summary from #3 or except from #2, share the link on Facebook (to your VIP group, your business page, and/or personal page).

  5. Pin the article on your Pinterest boards.

  6. Create a short format video teasing the information in your blog post. Share it as a TikTok or Reel on Instagram.

  7. Create an email template including the link to your post as a quick and easy response when you have an inquiry relevant to that topic.

Experiment and see where your client responds to you and focus your energy there. Share with us below- how do you use content marketing in your business?
