Move Sub-Albums around within Sub-Albums

Ok, so when I started with shootproof, I thought the way to go was categories. Unfortunately, I figured out pretty far into it that this was a horrible idea as customers cannot purchase from different galleries (ugh). So I’ve started trying to rearrange that. But now I’ve run into another problem in that I believe I cannot move one sub-album into another sub-album without either moving the images out of the sub-album and then back into a new one or re uploading the entire sub-album. Both options suck, the former less so, but still time consuming. Can someone tell me if my summation about the process is correct? Or if there is a way to do what I want without the extra steps? Sorry i’m a little salty, we made the switch from zenfolio, and while you can’t ever get your thumbnails to display with them (like ever), the backend process was SO much easier. I guess it’s all a trade off.

Hi Lisa,

We are glad to have you with Shootproof!  I am sorry that you have having trouble getting things set up the way you want them.  I know the process of restarting somewhere new can be very frustrating.  If I understand what you are trying to do, I believe that you are correct.  An album or sub-album can only hold images OR a sub album, but cannot hold images and a sub album at the same level.  Does that answer your question?  If not, please let me know so that I can help!

Thank You,

Ashley

Hey Ashley - Thanks. I’m actually just trying to move things around, I don’t want sub-albums and images to coexist in the same album. Maybe this will help….I originally had it set up like this:

2021 Basketball (album) → Boys (sub-album) | Girls (sub-album) → each sub-album contained sub-albums of games → that would be put in the Basketball category with previous years. ------- This does not work as a parent who goes in to buy images from years past would have to place separate orders and pay multiple shipping charges because you can’t purchase across albums.

So what I would like to do is be able to go into said 2021 Basketball (album) change it to just Basketball (album). Then go to the Boys (sub-album) and put a 2021 sub-album, and move all the games that are currently sub-albums to Boys into the 2021 sub-album. So what currently looks like: 2021 Basketball → Boys → {Varsity} Team A vs Team B  would then look like Basketball → Boys → 2021 → {Varsity} Team A vs Team B ----- This is preferred because then the parent can navigate anywhere in Basketball (album) and place one large order.

Best I can tell, the easiest way would be to go into {Varsity} Team A vs Team B (sub-album) highlight all the images, select remove from album, then go into 2021 (sub-album) create a new sub-album titled {Varsity} Team A vs Team B, then click the All Photos Not in Albums link, select all and then move them all into the new sub-album.

Hi Lisa,

I apologize for the delay.  I was checking in with another team member to get a better answer for you.  I wanted to let you know I am working on it and will get back to you soon.  Thank you for your patience!

Hi @lisarigdon ,

We’ve had a dig into how the best way to set this up would be - and unfortunately as you already have them uploaded into albums, there is no easy drag and drop functionality so your best bet would be to reupload in this case. I know it’s not ideal, but once you do that, the method you suggested re. renaming Basketball 2021 to Basketball and then putting 2021 under basketball is correct. Then you could have sub-sub albums under 2021.

I know it’s a little late to share these with you, but these may also help: https://help.shootproof.com/hc/en-us/articles/115009989627-How-do-I-use-Albums- & https://help.shootproof.com/hc/en-us/articles/115009989587-What-is-an-album-
