I’m a little confused by the new print store, Collage.
It says we earn 20% of every sale.
WHAT? Why would I choose that?
If I do the traditional print store, and sell a print for (example) $10, but it costs me $1 to get from the lab. Then I make $9.
But if I do the print store by collage, I would only make $2!
I am really thinking I must be confused bc why would anyone choose that option???
Hi Everyone,
I can understand where you are coming from if you are currently using a traditional print store option (using a lab of your choice and setting your own prices. The print store has been set up at THIS stage to accommodate those photographers currently not offering ANY kind of print sales - more so the digitals only, shoot and burn type. In this instance, the setup of the store allows them to take a step into offering products directly through their galleries without any additional legwork required by them - in particular, they don't need to order from the lab, ship, etc as that is all handled in the print store - even the pricing is set. (This element re. pricing may become more of an optional element in the future for photographers to set their own pricing, but in the initial rollout stage it is set for them).
Photographers who already offer prints etc. can still avail of the print store by first delivering the gallery using the traditional store, allowing clients to purchase and pay for orders using the traditional store with photographer pricing, and once the order has been paid for, they can then switch the store to the print store to allow for additional add on purchases of products there - with anything purchased being a bonus income that they perhaps otherwise wouldn't have made.
I am going to change the label on this from a question to a conversation to allow others to chime in about their experience with the Collage print store thus far.
